Recently surpassing 1M followers on Instagram, the Ballerina Project is a beautifully curated account displaying the essence of ballet outside of the traditional dance studio. Started as an ongoing series by photographer Dane Shitagi spanning 16 years, the Project has expanded to social media as “an etching of a ballerina’s heart and emotions.” The photographs transcend just the femininity of ballet to show its strong-willed nature and global impact. Images from the Ballerina Project are set all over the world, from the concrete basin of the LA River or the lawns of Central Park to the rooftops of Paris and anywhere picturesque in between.
