Why communicate with words when you can just use emojis from Comedy Central's hit stoner sitcom Workaholics? This was the implicit question behind our Workaholics emoji and GIF keyboard, and we were banking on the show's huge fan base picking up what we were putting down. By incorporating the show's key characters into the way viewers communicated, we aimed to maintain a high level (pun intended) of involvement with the show, both while it was on air and in between seasons.
We released the keyboard on iOS8 and Android and invited fans to share their feelings with their best buds using Workaholics' iconic collection of touchstones and terms. That meant incorporating costume pieces like Blake's infamous bear coat and the guys' sweet wizard beards and including favorite characters like Waymond and Jillian. To spread word of the emoji revolution, Comedy Central, the show's stars and the show itself promoted the keyboard from their social accounts. Whether it was iMessage, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger or email, Workaholics had officially infiltrated.
To date, the Workaholics keyboard has been downloaded over 65,000 times and launched 4.8 million times. A total of 766,000 images have been sent. That's a lot of jokes about beer and weed, and we couldn't be happier.
