To drive anticipation for the fifth season of Game of Thrones and maintain it's status in the cultural zeitgeist HBO joined forces with the popular smartphone keyboard, BitStrips to bring Game of Thrones to everyday messaging conversation.
HBO / Game of Thrones partnered with Bitstrips to create a first-ever bitmoji costume pack allowing for fans of the series to "become" truly part of the realm of Westeros. The pack included 6 never-before-seen bitmojis allowing fans of the series to turn into the Night's King, scream "Dracarys" as Danaerys, and sit on the Iron Throne as King Joffrey himself.
Fans were ecstatic to see the emoji's and began using them to express their excitement for both the show and to share their current #GoT-inspired emotions. The GoT bitmojis have been shared 3.6M times so far and seen by many more people, both in the app and as recipients of those bitmojis. The most shared bitmoji's were "I Am The King" and "You Know Nothing," which were each shared nearly 1M times.
