Club Enerji was established as an Energy & Resource Conservation Club to bring about a first-hand realization of the energy crisis and resource scarcity in the country and help in the effective management and conservation that has become the need of the hour. School children were identified as drivers to contribute to curb the wasteful usage of power, fuel, water while promoting the need to reduce, reuse and recycle and educate society on the need to conserve energy and natural resources.
Over the years, the programme has evolved, taking the debate to a higher level, from focusing only on energy & resource conservation, to building active and responsible citizens capable of positively influencing the future of India, and of the world. To this end, various other components have been added to its scope, while keeping the conservation emphasis strong - including moral & civic values, climate change preparedness & disaster management, and active citizenship.
Club Enerji is an informal club comprising of young school children across the country. It aims to reach out to school children on issues relating to the importance of energy, natural resources & moral and civic values to make responsible citizens. The main objective is to sensitize and advocate judicious use of electricity and resources. The strategy is to use the future generations to spread the message of conservation and empower them to protect their own future by making them the harbingers of change to become responsible, active citizens.
Interactive sessions through In-class Educational Films, presentations and competitions are undertaken to reinforce the content and assess the integration of thought into action. School children are trained to understand the basics such as interpretation of electricity bills, basic steps that will help curb wastage of power at home, school and society with the help of Energy Audits and Energy and Carbon Footprint Calculators, Optimizing the use of electrical gadgets / devices at home with the participation of family members.
As part of the initiative, to monitor the impact of the program, the Tata Power Club Enerji confers titles on active young students, like Energy Champions and Energy Ambassadors, in different cities.
