Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 – Dot Matrix Printer Twitch Takeover

Entered in Single Post or Activation

Objective

With thousands of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta codes to give away, we needed one thing: the internet’s undivided attention. In a landscape where attention spans are shorter than ever, how could we captivate audiences across social platforms for hours?

Strategy

The answer: a 1991 dot matrix printer.

We brought this ancient tech to life at the center of an unforgettable Twitch livestream. As the printer hummed to life (slowly), fans tuned in to watch it print individual beta codes—at an excruciatingly slow pace.

Here’s the twist: each code could only be redeemed by one player, so viewers had to race to enter the code before someone else snagged it. Missed it? They had to stay glued to the stream for another chance. To keep viewers hooked, the printer also occasionally spat out Call of Duty-themed ASCII art, providing additional entertainment for those patient enough to wait.

This simple yet absurdly effective concept turned the slow, outdated printer into a viral sensation—capturing and holding attention in a way no fast-paced campaign could.

Results

The results speak for themselves. Call of Duty’s second-most-watched livestream ever, reaching 2.4 million total views, with an average of 19,400 viewers at any given moment. The stream ranked #5 on Twitch for the day—an unprecedented success driven by a 30+ year-old dot matrix printer.

In a world obsessed with speed and efficiency, we turned slowness into a strategic advantage. The result: massive hype for one of the most anticipated games of the year. Call it innovation—delivered in slow motion.
