Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Windows to the Words Social Video

Entered in Short Form Video

Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” is a spin-off of “Star Trek: Discovery” that expands on the “Star Trek” stories that span the era before the exploits of Captain Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise. The series follows the intergalactic exploits of Captain Christopher Pike and the original crew of the Enterprise in the decade before the events of “Star Trek: The Original Series.” For the first time, viewers can see the younger Pike, Spock, and Number One boldly go where no one has gone before.

The objective of the short form social video was to tease Star Trek fans and new fans with a quick glimpse at some of the cosmic new locations visited in the landmark new series.

Strategy and Execution

To promote the series, Paramount+ crafted a breathtaking short-form social video that transports viewers directly to the cosmos. From a window aboard the Enterprise, audiences are introduced to barren and uninhabitable alien terrain, futuristic city skylines, and a myriad of interstellar life forms that both dazzle and build anticipation for the new series. The end of the video reminds viewers that in order to embark on the cosmic journey, they must become a part of the expansive Paramount+ ecosystem. The social video also showcases that the series not only traverses many new and unexplored worlds but narratively it also subverts expectation through a variance of the genre.

Paramount+ rolled out the “Windows to the Worlds” social video across their various verified social media accounts. On Instagram, the video was posted for their more than 210,000 dedicated followers and on Twitter, the video was posted for their more than 220,000 followers. The series went on to become the fifth-most in-demand streaming series in May of 2022. It was more than 30 times more in demand than the average streaming television series.
