Microsoft Apps As People featuring Annie Agar

Entered in TikTok Partnership

Objectives

If you’re a sports fan and checked social media over the past year, chances are you came across at least one of Annie Agar's hilarious virtual meeting parody videos. Annie is a sports reporter who became viral during the COVID-19 pandemic for creating her own social media content where she dons shirts from various sports teams and impersonates them as if they were in a virtual meeting.

So we thought to ourselves… What if Annie could bring the Microsoft Apps to life in real world scenarios on TikTok? (+And in Microsoft Teams calls!)

In order to weave Microsoft Education's offering authentically into our TikTok presence, we created a series known as 'Microsoft Apps as People', featuring  Annie Agar who personified apps including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, OneNote, Teams and more. The goal of this content series is to present the fun side of our software offering while driving awareness of same.

Strategy and Execution

Each video playfully shows how Microsoft 365 apps would interact with each other if they were people. The topic of each video is innately school related, ranging from topics such as school picture day to show & tell to remote learning. They subtly remind the audience about tips and features of each of the apps.

Annie's videos are creative, funny, and satirically goes through each apps respective quirks with pinpoint accuracy. PowerPoint is flamboyant? Yep we can see that. Teams is a social butterfly? Absolutely. Excel is very analytical? You don't say!

Results

The comments in the video really tell the story of the success of the videos: "Best ad i've ever seen"  "I am totally PowerPoint" "All the feels for Excel" "I just spit out my morning coffee" "Well done Microsoft" "OMG this is incredible" "I'm here for this marketing" "Teams is my spirit app"

Across eight (8) videos, this series has garnered nearly 15M views, over 4k+ shares and 310k+ engagements, in addition to the mentioned positive sentiment in the comments about the videos and Microsoft as a whole.
