For the 2017 Teen Choice Awards, we wanted to create a red-carpet experience that would not only engage to viewers, but also keep them engaged into the live broadcasted awards show. We took the typical livestream red carpet and turned it on it's head using the latest 180 VR technology.
We collaborated with YouTube to use their 180 VR technology and livestream it on their platform. Our teams worked collaboratively to find the perfect VR camera placement, while having the hosts engage with VR viewers to make it feel as if they were on the carpet with talent. We also pre-shot multiple packages beforehand and placed them interstitially into the livestream.
Above industry standards, approximately 50% of viewers watched in VR. Additionally, the video has garnered 880K views to date.
