Objectives

Create a live social pre-show leading into the 2017 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards as a way to drive fan engagement, buzz, and awareness in the crucial moments leading into the show. Our goal was to engage users active on social from their mobile, tablet and desktop to tune in to the awards.

Strategy and Execution

We developed a 30 minute live stream in the minutes before the 2017 Kids' Choice Awards filled to the brim with games, Slime and kid's favorite stars and influencers capturing the excitement of the Orange Carpet. This live event was hosted by Daniella Monet, established Nickelodeon star and current host of Paradise Run on the channel, and Meg DeAngelis, YouTube influencer @MayBaby known for her quirky girl next door attitude. The dynamic duo interviewed talent, played games and tackled a wheel of challenges with the celebs as they were on the carpet on their way into the show. The show also included a performance from Jacob Sartorius in the moments leading up to the Kids' Choice Awards.

To promote the live stream, we published two videos on our YouTube channel. The first was a live stream announcement made by Nick stars Jack Griffo and Kira Kosarin from The Thundermans, who letting kids know when the live stream would be held and that they can submit questions to be answered live. The day of the Kids' Choice Awards we published a video featuring John Cena reminding kids to turn on their notifications for the live stream later that day, and letting them ask questions in the comments below. Our live stream was also featured on the YouTube live homepage for additional exposure and promotion in advance of the show.

Results

The live stream received 413K views across YouTube (256K) and Facebook (157K) and 44K engagements on the day of the show. It also garnered an addition 63K views via Traction Labs, which placed our stream in native ads on relevant sites. With 1.8MM views and 8.5MM minutes of watch time to date, it is a testament to the high quality and enduring value of the content.
