“Say More with Tulaine Montgomery” is driven by the belief that deep, honest dialogue is vital for advancing justice and liberation in a society that feels increasingly polarized and fragmented. Through conversations featuring radically candid honesty, humor, and joy, New Profit CEO and Say More Host Tulaine Montgomery creates a sanctuary for changemakers seeking to imagine and build a better world. Say More strives to speak with leaders and thinkers who are bringing the light of optimism and hope for our future. By engaging with influential leaders, philanthropists, civic visionaries, journalists, educators, and activists, Say More is a well of inspiration and a space to explore what it means to adapt and evolve — together.
Its goals are to inspire and equip listeners to think boldly and act courageously in their pursuit of a more inclusive and equitable world. It is not just a space for conversation — it’s a digital well of inspiration and learning with practical insights and resources to anyone committed to making change. The podcast delves into reimagining the systems that perpetuate inequity, building impactful coalitions and a thriving democracy, and cultivating leadership — all while finding joy. By fostering a community of action-oriented changemakers, the podcast nurtures the connections and ideas necessary for meaningful progress.
Ultimately, Say More is more than a series of interviews. It’s a space where challenging ideas are discussed and distilled into actionable insights, helping listeners become active participants in a multiracial, intergenerational, cross-sector coalition to shape an America where all can thrive.
Say More was driven by a clear vision: creating a platform for radical, candid conversations about justice, liberation, and systems change. At the heart of our work is the belief that true systems-level transformation requires multiracial, intergenerational, cross-sector (MIC) coalitions to co-design and problem-solve. To do anything less limits the scale of impact we can achieve. To break through this ceiling, Say More set out to bring those at the frontier of driving change and fostering collaboration across lines of difference to influence systems at the population level.
Systems change is a responsibility that does not solely lie with the nonprofit field, business community or our government leaders — it’s a collective responsibility we hold together across sectors, and collaboration is the most effective means towards systems change. Say More recognizes that every part of a system can be a lever for change. To go deep into the multifaceted and interconnected nature of social impact work, we engage leading voices across social impact, philanthropy, civic engagement, education, neuroscience, and more. For example, previous episodes have featured Krista Tippett, Creator and Host of “On Being;” Rachel Cargle, best-selling author and Founder of The Loveland Foundation and The Loveland Company; Farai Chideya, journalist and Host of Our Body Politic; Eric Liu, Co-Founder and CEO of Citizen University and Founding Director of Aspen Institute’s Citizenship & American Identity Program; and Marshall Ganz, who supported youth coalitions during the Civil Rights Movement and worked closely with Cesar Chavez to rally California farmers in their fight for rights.
Say More started three years ago as an Instagram Live series to bring people together during the COVID-19 pandemic and is now a growing community of changemakers having the action-oriented conversations we need to make meaningful progress towards an America where all can thrive. A vital component of this mission is meaningful community engagement through social media. We invited our social audiences to share their questions and insights, which we then integrated into each episode. This interactive element created a direct line between our audience and the changemakers we feature, helping to ensure that the discussions reflect the real-life issues our listeners are facing. This approach also helped foster a stronger sense of community for those on the path of impact.
Our efforts were a success in terms of measurable impact and the deep connection we’ve cultivated with our audience. One of our key objectives was to expand our audience and reach while maintaining meaningful engagement, and we have achieved that with remarkable results.
