We Are Teachers + Girls4Tech: Teaching Students To Be Cyber Savvy

Objectives

We Are Teachers partnered with Girls4Tech, Mastercard's signature STEM education program, to build a new home base for their education resources and create a brand-new digital escape room activity for the classroom.

Through a microsite of free resources and printables, the goal of this program was to provide teachers with opportunities to help students engage safely and respectfully in the online world, explore careers in STEM fields, and become future leaders who are ready to tackle real-world challenges.

Strategy and Execution

The We Are Teachers team created an engaging microsite to share the free resources from Girls4Tech including lesson plans, student magazines, a video game, and other in-class activities. Promotional emphasis was held on International Day of the Girl (October 11, 2023), where a comprehensive social media campaign was launched. A brand-new digital escape room experience allowed teachers to kick off cyber savvy learning with four unique puzzles which students solve in collaborative groups to learn about online safety and cyber security. A teacher survey was also implemented to gather information about what STEM resources teachers needed most in their classrooms to inform decision making and determine the effectiveness of the resources provided. 

Results

Through the end of 2023, over 3 million impressions will be served between social, email, newsletters, display ads, and Google ads. To date we've already seen over 10,000 lessons downloaded and over 30,000 microsite pageviews, with an estimated impact of over 500,000 students.
