Anyone across the globe can report, photograph or shoot video news. Yet the art of story telling has never been more relevant or important. NowThis News fills the gap between user generated content and network reporting. We are irreverent, creative and concise. We are mobile, social, video. NowThis News is able to craft original content tailored to a specific audience on a specific platform, while simultaneously maintaining a consistent look and feel. Our audience on our Snapchat views the same story, and possibly takes away the same message, as our audience on Instagram or Vine, but the content delivery is clearly distinct. We are changing the way news is produced and distributed by adapting to how news is consumed. NowThis News is the first video news network designed for mobile and social. We don't repurpose content to fit within a 6 or 15 second window. Our content is specifically produced for each platform, taking advantage of what would otherwise be time constraints. The stories we tell meet our viewers on the platforms they frequent daily, with videos they will actually watch. In December 2013 the the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees were announced. Our approach? Craft two pieces, one for Instagram and one for Vine. Two different audiences, two distinctly unique takes crafted for each platform, one story. We successfully reached a broader audience by catering our content to a specific community. The emergence and widespread use of social networks combined with the speed in which information is consumed has created an environment ripe for change. The age of the nightly news hour is coming to a close. NowThis News doesn't use social media to promote our brand, we use social media as our primary vehicle to report the news and tell meaningful stories. The mobile and social generation doesn’t need to find the news; the news finds them.
