Giving Back to Eco-Warriors

Entered in Environment & Sustainability

🌱 To use our voice to spread optimism and empowerment by celebrating every eco-forward step.
🌱 To sow the seeds of sustainability by giving back
🌱 To challenge our followers to show us the little (or not so little) things they're doing to inspire others to give a sh*t about our planet.

Strategy and Execution

Our challenge: How can we use our platform Waste-Ed to put our money where our mouth is (literally!) and amplify real-life eco-warriors? As an Insta-first brand, we wanted to take the obvious Insta giveaway format and turn it into something that actually gives back to a community rather than gives away cool eco "stuff" (although we do that, too!) We challenged our more than 700K followers all over the world across all platforms to tag an eco-warrior or organization who could use some extra cash to take their good work to the next level. We sifted through hundreds of videos from amazing people and organizations - both official and grassroots - and featured the strongest entries throughout the month on our channel.

And the winner is...!

Waste-Ed won on many levels here:
1) We had a month's worth of extremely engaging, organic content that performed well with our growing community'
2) We got to meet some really inspiring eco-warriors with whom we continue to collaborate;
3) Our first place winner, the Swampna Vana Foundation, won $1,000 to invest in their community. The team of teens are on a journey to plant 10,000 trees - an entire forest, one tree at a time - on a barren stretch of land in India. They also teach kids about the importance of reforestation work to keep the planet healthy.
