STEAM Carnivals are built to cultivate the next generation of inventors, advance environmental stewardship, and spur community engagement by providing students of all means with access to STEAM education. Think of it as a full stack replacement for the Science Fair and the Bake Sale. Only the already engaged science students attend the Science Fair, everyone wants to go to a Carnival!
STEAM Carnivals are designed to help young minds find a passion for learning on their own terms. Through hands-on experiments and teamwork, students build critical thinking skills by working through real-world problems in a festive and engaging environment while creating games for their Carnival.
The role of teachers and educators at the STEAM Carnival is not to dictate learning objectives to their students, but to serve as guides to help foster the growth of their inherent curiosity and potentials.
Two Bit Circus Foundation uses non-traditional, repurposed materials to build curiosity, enhance experimentation, and create hands-on engagement. Their in-depth teacher training, DIY-education, coursework and expertise help take the Two Bit Circus Foundation to the next level.
The foundation provides the tools and resources schools need to create their own inspired learners, including the key elements:
Currently operating in half the schools of LAUSD, the foundation has trained 5,000 teachers and over 300,000 students. The program focuses on at-risk communities and is in the process of scaling around the world.
Additionally, 2BCF has helped divert 520 TONS of materials from landfills. The foundation is on track to have 124 STEAM Labs running in 2018. |
