The website iom.int serves as the official corporate platform of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Migration Agency.

The website functions as a transparent window into IOM’s global impact—demonstrating the reach and effectiveness of its programs while clearly articulating its objectives and strategic priorities. Through authoritative migration data, flagship global reports, and policy insights, it equips governments, researchers, and stakeholders with the evidence needed to make informed decisions.

At its core, however, the platform gives voice to migrants themselves—placing dignity, lived experience, and human rights at the center of the migration conversation.

Its clean, dynamic, and visually compelling format enhances user engagement while actively striving to meet accessibility standards, ensuring that critical migration information is inclusive, reachable, and empowering for all.

The website was completely revamped one year ago and rebuilt from scratch to strengthen transparency, accessibility, and global engagement. The strategy focused on clearly showcasing IOM’s impact, amplifying migrant voices, and providing authoritative migration data and flagship reports that inform evidence-based decision-making while promoting rights-centered migration narratives.

Execution:
The redesign prioritized accessibility compliance from the ground up, integrating inclusive design components, clearer information architecture, and simplified navigation pathways to ensure users—from policymakers to migrants themselves—can easily find critical information. A clean, dynamic, and visually engaging interface supports storytelling, data visibility, and report access, making the platform both informative and highly usable while reinforcing accountability and global reach.

Results

Since its full rebuild one year ago, the website has strengthened its global visibility, accessibility, and influence as a migration knowledge hub. The redesigned platform has improved search engine positioning, with recent analytics showing significant organic traffic levels and continued optimization efforts to improve search ranking and discoverability.

The clearer architecture, accessibility-first design, and stronger content structure have made migration data, flagship reports, and evidence-based insights easier to find online, reinforcing the website’s role as a trusted reference for policymakers, researchers, and migrants themselves. Flagship publications such as the World Migration Report now have greater digital reach, supporting informed migration governance worldwide.

Most importantly, the revamped platform has improved how IOM communicates its impact — giving greater visibility to migrant voices, humanitarian programming, and rights-based narratives while ensuring information remains inclusive, accessible, and globally discoverable.
