I am a New York Times bestselling author, filmmaker, podcast host, Emmy Award winning journalist, and one of the most visible voices in the women’s health and midlife space. After three decades as a trusted news anchor, I made a deliberate career shift to use my platform to champion menopause awareness at a time when millions of women were searching for clarity and support.
My advocacy began the day I collapsed on air. I felt heart palpitations, panic, and brain fog, and later learned it was an intense hot flash. The only guidance I received afterward was a short message from my doctor that said, “In menopause… any questions?” That moment showed me the deep gaps in women’s health care and sparked my mission to change the experience for others.
Using my background as an investigative journalist, I began digging into the science, the stories, and the systemic failures surrounding menopause. As I rebuilt my own life through information and community, I realized I could help ensure that no woman had to navigate this time alone.
My goal from the start has been simple and clear. I want to bring honesty, compassion, and evidence-based information to a topic that has been ignored for far too long. Through my documentaries, book, podcast, and daily work, I have built a global community that helps women understand their bodies, advocate for better care, and see midlife as a time of strength and possibility.
I brought this work to life by building a conversation that turned into a movement, changing the way women understand menopause and midlife health. When I realized how little information existed for women who were experiencing the same confusion I once felt, I set out to create the resources and community that I wished I had. My plan unfolded across four main pillars created to reach women wherever they are and to give them the support they deserve.
The first pillar is my social media community. It has become a place where women come to hear honest conversations, share their experiences, and get clear information on what is happening in their bodies. Across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, I reach millions of women each week. Campaigns such as #PostYourPatch, #ManofthePause, and the #HottoTrotWalk has allowed women to feel less alone and more informed as we work together to normalize the conversation around menopause.
The second pillar is my film and advocacy work through The (M) Factor. What began as a single documentary has grown into a global movement. The (M) Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause aired on PBS, was screened more than 1,000 times, reached billions of media impressions, and has been watched in more than 50 countries. It has been shared in medical schools and workplaces and has appeared in Senate briefings and at the World Economic Forum. The upcoming film The (M) Factor 2: Before the Pause continues this work by shining a light on perimenopause and the women whose symptoms are often dismissed or misunderstood.
The third pillar is my book How to Menopause, published in March 2025. It features insights from 42 experts and offers clear, evidence-based guidance for women navigating every stage of menopause. It became a New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller and has been translated for global audiences. To celebrate the book launch, I hosted The World’s Hottest Menopause Party in Las Vegas, which united more than 100,000 women virtually and in person. With guests such as Halle Berry, Naomi Watts, Sherri Shepherd, and many leading medical specialists, the event created a worldwide moment of connection and education.
The fourth pillar is my podcast, The Tamsen Show. Each week, I sit down with leading doctors, cultural voices, and women who are changing the conversation around midlife. With more than 3 million downloads at launch and over 300,000 downloads each month, the show has become a trusted resource for women who are ready for honest and practical conversations about their health and their lives.
Each part of this work faced challenges, including stigma, misinformation, and decades of silence. These challenges made the mission even more important. The result is a movement that gives women the knowledge, community, and confidence they deserve.
The results of this work have exceeded every goal I set and have helped bring new visibility, understanding, and momentum to menopause and midlife health around the world.
My documentary The (M) Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause became a global catalyst for change. It aired more than 1,000 times, earned more than 20 million trailer views, and generated more than 2 billion media impressions. It was screened in more than 50 countries and used in Senate briefings, medical schools, and major workplace trainings. The upcoming film The (M) Factor 2: Before the Pause builds on this foundation by bringing much needed attention to the experience of perimenopause.
My book, How to Menopause, became a New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller and has been translated and published around the world. It has given women clear, evidence-based information that has often been missing from their health care experiences.
My podcast The Tamsen Show launched with more than 3 million downloads and now averages about 300,000 downloads each month. It offers ongoing support and education through conversations with top medical experts and cultural leaders.
These results have brought powerful awareness to menopause at every level from individual women to workplaces to national and global conversations. I consider this work a success because it has helped women feel understood and informed, has encouraged better policies and medical education, and has created a community where women feel seen and supported as they move through midlife on their own terms.
