Objective

As a global energy leader, Iberdrola is leading the charge to create a more sustainable, decarbonized, and energy-efficient world. As AI and electrification accelerate energy demand, the grid faces growing strain—and smarter, more resilient energy systems are needed to balance supply and demand. Through STAYING POWER, a documentary-style brand film, our teams were tasked with humanizing these complex energy challenges, showing how Iberdrola is leading the way through renewable energy and energy storage solutions, a critical component for reliable, consistent power. The film was centered in Spain, where Iberdrola’s strategic vision comes to life through major energy infrastructure, from massive hydroelectric plants to sweeping solar farms and towering green hydrogen plants, all built to unlock the full potential of renewable energy for the residents and businesses located on the Iberian Peninsula. This film showcases how Iberdrola is mitigating the impact of the AI boom and subsequent electrification to sustainably power the future for business and beyond.

To tell this story, Iberdrola and Headland Consultancy came to Fortune Brand Studio to active a paid media partnership, building credibility, reach, and presence far more quickly than the teams could achieve through PR alone.

Strategy

In this brand film, we explored the critical role of energy storage in advancing the energy transition and creating more resilient energy systems for residents and businesses alike. Through its landmark projects in Spain, we showcased how Iberdrola is redefining the future of energy in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.

Over the course of a 10-day shoot on the ground and a one-day aerial shoot via Aerial Film Company (Tom Cruise's favorite U.K.-based helicopter film crew), we visited Iberdrola’s Madrid office, traveled to the Puertollano solar plants, and swooped through the mountains, valleys, reservoirs, and dams of Cortes des Pallás to spotlight Europe’s largest hydroelectric plant.

No expense was spared to bring to life these breath-taking, massive energy generation and energy storage projects that are decarbonizing the Spanish grid, with the goal to create a film with as much original b-roll footage as possible. This emboldened the client to secure us high-level security clearances with the Spanish Government and Federal Aviation Administration to showcase their most secure power plant locations that are usually kept off camera. Speaking with company executives and key workers on the ground, we illuminated how Iberdrola is tackling today’s energy challenges, advancing energy storage, and driving energy innovations needed to create a more sustainable world.
