Slack from Salesforce: Slackbot Social Media Takeover

Entered in Brand Voice

Objective

The Slackbot social media takeover was part of a product launch aimed to establish Slackbot as your personal AI agent for work — an intelligent, active partner that brings clarity and momentum to what you’re already doing in Slack. Our objectives included driving awareness and excitement for Slackbot’s launch, showcasing real customer value through authentic storytelling, and positioning Slack as the leader in workplace AI through a coordinated multi-platform campaign. The strategy focused on creating a distinct brand moment that would cut through the noise of generic tech announcements by highlighting Slackbot's unique context-aware capabilities and seamless integration into existing workflows, as well as introducing the public to Slackbot’s personality by having Slackbot ‘take over’ Slack social media accounts, posting in its own distinct voice.

Strategy

The Complete Social Takeover Strategy:

The execution centered on a one-week social media takeover where Slackbot became the main story across all Slack's social channels, reaching 2.3M followers with how-to’s, customer stories, videos, and live streams. The campaign featured coordinated header updates, profile photo changes, and in-character Slackbot replies across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, and Facebook.

Platform-Native Content Innovation:

The team leveraged platform-specific features to maximize engagement, including LinkedIn carousel posts that consistently delivered the highest performance, interactive polls and puzzles that created community engagement, and "day in the life" content that showcased Slackbot's practical applications.

Customer-Centric Storytelling:

Real customer validation became the cornerstone of the campaign, featuring success stories from MrBeast, Engine, and other pilot customers who demonstrated tangible productivity gains by using Slackbot. The team captured authentic testimonials showcasing users saving 90+ minutes per day, with specific use cases that resonated across different industries and team sizes.

Coordinated Launch Execution:

The campaign required precise coordination across multiple teams and time zones, with a detailed run-of-show that synchronized press embargo lifts, blog posts, web updates, and social content. The team managed over 70 posts across platforms during the launch period while maintaining consistent messaging and brand voice.

Overcoming Market Saturation:

The biggest challenge was differentiating Slackbot in an oversaturated AI market filled with generic productivity claims. This was achieved by focusing on Slackbot's unique context-awareness and enterprise-grade security, consistently highlighting that it works within existing Slack conversations and respects data permissions without requiring additional setup. To stand out in the feed, we used fresh Slackbot-only creative featuring bright colors and the Slackbot icon, and incorporated social memes into the context mix.

Results

The Slackbot social media takeover delivered exceptional results that shattered previous benchmarks. The campaign generated 600K impressions and achieved a standout 10.3% engagement rate (+134% versus year-to-date average) across 73 posts, with top posts receiving engagement rates over 6-7 times the FY26 average. The LinkedIn/X live event reached 3,610 viewers, demonstrating strong audience appetite for Slackbot content.

Social listening revealed 96% positive sentiment across nearly 1,800 conversations, with users specifically praising Slackbot's personalized context and seamless integration. The social takeover created a distinct brand moment that cut through typical AI product noise by focusing on real customer outcomes rather than technical specifications.

Most importantly, the takeover transformed followers into active advocates, with customers voluntarily creating and sharing their own Slackbot success stories. The campaign proved that B2B social media can drive genuine community engagement when focused on real customer value rather than promotional messaging, setting a new standard for product launch social strategies.
