Therapy Changed My Life is Headspace’s original digital series created to spotlight the transformative power of therapy through real stories. Each five-minute episode features an individual sharing the most life-changing insight they’ve received from their therapist- moments of clarity that altered how they see themselves, their relationships, and the world around them.
Shot in a polished, confessional style and woven together with documentary footage, everyday moments, and user-generated clips, the series goes beyond the therapy room to show how healing tools carry into daily life- whether through journaling, meditation, or simply navigating challenges with new perspective.
By humanizing the therapy experience and highlighting its accessibility, Therapy Changed My Life invites viewers to see themselves reflected in these journeys and to consider therapy as a pathway toward resilience and growth. Warm and supportive in tone, the series aligns with Headspace’s mission of making mental health care approachable for all, bridging the gap between clinical and everyday wellbeing.
Launched on YouTube and within the Headspace app, the series not only destigmatizes therapy but also positions it as a natural, empowering resource- showing that profound change can begin with a single conversation.
Our goal with Therapy Changed My Life was to humanize therapy and demonstrate its real impact through the voices of people who had lived it. To achieve this, we developed a creative plan anchored in authenticity and warmth, while balancing the rigor of production with the vulnerability of personal storytelling.
The execution hinged on a hybrid storytelling format: polished, straight-to-camera confessional interviews paired with doc-style B-roll and user-generated clips. This blend allowed us to present deeply personal reflections while showing how therapy tools extend into daily life- whether through journaling, meditation, or navigating everyday challenges. The combination gave the series a raw yet polished feel, grounding it in realism while inspiring viewers to see themselves in these stories.
We faced two major challenges. First, the timeline was extremely tight, as at least one episode needed to be ready for the therapy launch date. This required precise planning of casting, shooting, and post-production, with all teams moving in sync to deliver on schedule. Second, casting was uniquely delicate: we needed people willing to share profoundly personal and vulnerable experiences on camera. Through thoughtful outreach, trust-building, and a supportive set environment, we were able to secure participants who were both courageous and authentic.
What makes Therapy Changed My Life unique is not just its storytelling craft but its mission-driven approach. We weren’t simply promoting Headspace Therapy; we set out to normalize therapy itself, regardless of provider. The series was designed to break stigma, create resonance, and invite people to consider therapy as a pathway to resilience and growth.
The end result was a set of films that feel both intimate and universal- personal accounts of transformation, captured with honesty and artistry. The community’s response has been overwhelmingly positive, validating our belief that when therapy is presented as accessible, human, and deeply impactful, it resonates far beyond product marketing.
The primary objective of Therapy Changed My Life was to support the launch of Headspace Therapy by showing, in a deeply human way, how therapy can transform lives. We sought to normalize therapy, reduce stigma, and invite people to see it as accessible and useful- whether through Headspace or another provider.
Our efforts succeeded on multiple levels. Creatively, we brought to life authentic stories that combined confessional interviews, doc-style B-roll, and user-generated moments. This storytelling approach aligned perfectly with our goal of balancing polish with rawness, allowing viewers to connect emotionally while seeing therapy’s impact in everyday life.
Strategically, we launched the first episode in time for the therapy product release, with subsequent episodes rolling out shortly after. Despite the tight timeline, our cross-functional collaboration between Content, Brand, Clinical, and Marketing ensured on-time delivery across YouTube and in-app placements.
Most importantly, the community response affirmed our mission impact. Viewers shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, reflecting that the series resonated with their own experiences and encouraged them to consider therapy as a viable, empowering option. By sparking this kind of reflection and conversation, we met- and exceeded- our objective of showing that therapy is not only normal, but transformative.
For us, success is defined not just in meeting a launch date or producing beautiful content, but in helping people feel seen and inspired to take steps toward their mental health.
