Take9 Cybersecurity Campaign

Entered in Public Safety

Objective

Cyber threats are everywhere…and getting more sophisticated and sneaky.

The goal is to educate people about how to protect themselves from cyber threats. Traditional approaches fall short of addressing behaviors that make us vulnerable. Take9 shifts the conversation from technical jargon to everyday actions.

Strategy

Take9 is a national cybersecurity awareness campaign that takes an innovative approach: focusing on human behavior over rules. Research shows that pausing before acting can help people avoid phishing scams and other threats. It’s not just about cybersecurity—it’s about building a life skill. This campaign stands out by emphasizing that everyone plays a role in protecting society through simple, individual actions. It shows that securing our digital world starts with small, everyday choices anyone can make. The campaign features mobile videos, a custom website, social media content, digital and outdoor ads, influencer engagement, and experiential marketing.

What’s unique about our approach is that it uses behavioral science to focus on the small everyday actions all Americans can take—helping people build simple, easy-to-learn habits—so that everyone is safer. It also taps into an individual’s sense of a shared purpose or mission for a good cause that helps us all.

Results

To date, the campaign has reached 44.3M people, has had 28M video views, 400K+ site visitors, with a 97% favorability score. It also gained 59 promotional partners and has also been featured in Axios, Forbes, Yahoo Finance, the AP. The campaign was also featured at the 2025 RSAC Conference, the world’s most prominent cybersecurity conference, with Wondros’s president, Kiersten E. Todt leading a panel.
