Meet the Small Businesses Making a Massive Impact

Entered in Diverse-Owned Businesses Campaign

Objective

Building and maintaining a business is no easy feat, which is why we developed our #ChaseSmallBiz series focused on passing the megaphone to entrepreneurs to share their stories. In developing this series, we’ve pushed to highlight diverse-owned businesses across the country, spanning a variety of industries and cities.

Chase helps make dreams possible for everyone, everywhere, every day, which is why we share our local impact through compelling, human-first storytelling. Although we bank these small businesses, we remove ourselves from the story and focus solely on their journey. We are using our platform to give entrepreneurs a voice and share learnings that can help and inspire.

We know that when small businesses thrive, the local economy thrives as well, which is why we tell these growth and success stories. This year, we’ve celebrated:

With the goal of driving awareness, we used native tags, linked out to each business landing page and used the Collab feature on Instagram to give our audience (over 4.2M followers on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn) access to these brands.

Strategy

Anchored in a human-first storytelling ethos, this ongoing series brings our local-impact narrative to life around key cultural moments. In close partnership with our Diversity, Opportunity & Inclusion Communications team and our Business Banking marketing colleagues, we thoughtfully curated the businesses featured.

Together, we crafted messaging to share across both internal and external communications. We narrowed down a list of businesses that met our criteria based on their story, location, and industry. Next, we jumped on a call with each CEO or founder, heard their stories firsthand, walked through our process, and nailed down the video shoot details.

For the visual creative, our goal is to grab our audience's attention quickly with an engaging and eye-catching opening to “stop the scroll” on social media. We kick off our videos with a cold open to tease the audience, then deliver a story framework that emphasizes each business’s strength.

To amplify the content, we leveraged Chase’s Facebook, Instagram, and Chase for Business LinkedIn pages. We optimized the content to meet channel best practices, versioning the video into a 9x16 format. On Instagram, we utilized the Collab feature to engage both our audience and the business’s audience simultaneously. We also employed various native Instagram Story tools to engage our audience while educating them about the business.

On Facebook, we opted for Reels instead of the video in-feed to reach a larger audience through the Explore page. On LinkedIn, we used the Chase for Business page to target a more niche audience who would benefit directly from the storytelling. Across all platforms, we tagged each business and linked to their landing pages to drive overall awareness of their brand.

This series showcases a diverse lineup of businesses and the real impact behind their social missions. By leveraging our brand’s platform, we give these founders the visibility they might otherwise miss. Cutting through the social media chatter isn’t easy, but we tackle it with high-quality, tailored content that inspires, delights, and truly connects with our audience.

Results

The #ChaseSmallBiz series integrates perfectly into our team’s content strategy of telling Chase’s story of impact through compelling, human-first storytelling. Through a multi-channel strategy approach, we leveraged Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, representing our largest audiences (+4M total followers), to optimize our reach. We see our work being successful in the comments section of our posts, where the featured business often receives a deluge of support from their community, current customers, and prospective customers.
