Table Read Podcast was created to expand access to high-quality scripted storytelling by transforming unproduced film and television scripts into immersive audio dramas. In an industry where many original stories struggle to be seen or developed, our objective is to create a professional, artist-driven platform that allows writers, actors, and audiences to engage directly with original work.
The core idea driving the podcast is that performance is discovery. By bringing professional actors into the studio to perform scripts as fully realized audio experiences—supported by cinematic sound design and intentional direction—we aim to give stories the space to be heard, evaluated, and emotionally experienced, rather than reduced to pitch decks or loglines.
Our specific goals are threefold: to spotlight emerging and underrepresented writers, to showcase actors in performance-forward roles that often fall outside traditional casting pipelines, and to present genre-spanning stories that are both artistically ambitious and widely accessible. From comedy and horror to fantasy and drama, each episode is designed to function as a complete narrative experience while demonstrating the creative potential of audio as a medium.
Ultimately, Table Read Podcast seeks to bridge the gap between independent creators and audiences by proving that original scripted storytelling can thrive beyond traditional gatekeepers—building community, cultural conversation, and momentum around voices that deserve to be heard.
Table Read Podcast creates an experience that honors story, artist, and craft at every stage of production. We select screenplays that are emotionally driven, dialogue-forward, and capable of thriving in an audio-first format. Once selected, each script is treated as a special event. We design an inviting, immersive recording environment that honors the countless unseen hours writers spend developing their work. Custom cover art is created for every script, the studio is decorated to reflect the world of the story, and the atmosphere is intentionally curated to feel celebratory, focused, and artist-centered. Writers are welcomed into a space where their work is visibly valued—not rushed, minimized, or treated as disposable.
Casting and recording are equally intentional. We bring together emerging voiceover talent and seasoned industry professionals and treat every performer with the same level of respect, care, and creative trust. Actors are seated in a circle, allowing for genuine connection and organic performance, capturing the immediacy of a live table read while recording on professional microphones in a state-of-the-art studio. This ensemble-based approach creates a rare sense of community, while ensuring performances feel alive, responsive, and emotionally grounded.
Each episode receives cinematic sound design, score, and detailed audio engineering that elevates the material beyond a standard table read or podcast recording. Sound is used not as decoration, but as storytelling—supporting mood, character, and world-building with intention and restraint. The finished product reflects the same care and excellence as the recording experience itself.
Beyond the creative, Table Read Podcast is also pushing the medium forward. As one of the first narrative podcasts to partner with SAG-AFTRA under their Independent Podcast Agreement, we are committed to ethical production practices, fair pay, and professional protections.
Our greatest challenge—adapting scripts written for the screen into compelling audio—has become our defining strength. By combining hospitality, artistic encouragement, and uncompromising production values, Table Read Podcast creates not just episodes, but memorable experiences that honor writers, empower performers, and bring cinematic stories to life through sound.
Since launching in 2023, Table Read Podcast has exceeded its objectives of expanding access to original scripted storytelling, building a loyal audience, and demonstrating that audio drama can achieve both cultural relevance and industry recognition. The show quickly gained traction, breaking into Apple Podcasts’ Top 100 and consistently ranking #1 in their Fiction category.
Our goal of creating a professional showcase for unproduced film and television scripts has been validated through both audience response and third-party recognition. Table Read has earned major honors including a Webby Award for Best Scripted Fiction Podcast, last year's Shorty Audience Honor Award , and recognition from Signal Awards and New York Festivals Radio Awards.
Individual episodes have gone on to win and place at film festivals and audio competitions, confirming the podcast’s role as a legitimate discovery platform.
Beyond awards, the project has entered the broader entertainment conversation, with coverage and mentions in The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline.
Table Read has proven that original, performance-driven storytelling—when treated with care, craft, and respect—can reach large audiences, attract industry attention, and create real momentum for writers and actors outside traditional development pipelines.
