As an online accounting software provider, we recognise the importance of balancing the amazing work that accountings do with moments of fun and a sense of community.
With online accounting software, like Xero, accountants and bookkeepers now dread the time consuming, error filled processes, such as dealing with shoeboxes full of receipts from clients.
Our objectives were to generate conversations in our community, a little nostalgic fear and brand awareness, as well as offering a few moments of fun for as many accountants and bookkeepers we could reach on a very tight budget.
Paper receipts are regarded as a source of great pain to our audience and our idea tapped into this nightmare to create an engaging social campaign for accountants and bookkeepers.
We created a social campaign to invoke shivers, fear and a moment of fun.
On halloween, we (Xero - accounting software) tapped into the nightmare of receipts to create an engaging social campaign for our community of accounts and bookkeepers.
We meticulously crafted a series of social posts featuring a fake receipts. Each receipt depicted a famous horror movie killer, such as Freddy Krueger. This simple concept was brought to life through the store name, items purchased, date and any other detail we could adapt from a traditional receipt - the result was a combination of movie trivia, dry humour and a fun take on gruesome subject matter.
We out-performed any previous social campaigns by 5 times.
