Our objective for Chasing the Cure was to run a multiplatform initiative across social media and web, creating a community for people to share their individual patient stories, and make connections with people seeking answers for undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, or uncured medical mysteries. This community would work in support of the live show, and the information collected by these online detectives would shape the conversation had by the doctors on air.
Our digital team built an online community both online at ChasingtheCureLive.com and with social pages including a private Facebook Group. These were places where people could interact with other patients, discuss their own medical experiences, and contribute to meaningful conversation about Chasing The Cure and the medical industry. These comments were integrated into the show, and our online medical detectives provided valuable information around hard to crack cases. Additionally, we established partnerships with respected leaders in this space, such as Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Doctor Mike, as well as advocates of crowd-sourced medical advice like Tarek El Moussa. We also created a collection of online content series answering health questions, exploring unsolved medical mysteries, and connecting patients from across the country who struggle with chronic illness.
By the season finale, Chasing the Cure had a robust social community of over 75,000 followers, and more than 20,000 medical detectives on ChasingTheCureLive.com working to solve 6,000 user submitted case files. Our site generated over 600,000 unique site visits, and over 3 million unique page views.
