Almost exclusively comprised of detailed closeups of his geometric doodles, the vines of Alex Evans track the building of tiny cities, shapes, moonscapes, and abstractions, in timelapses, stills, stop motion, and macro video. Using the ultra-precise Staedtler 0.05m pen, the vines of Alex’s art are meditative and often coupled with simple, glitchtrack tunes, repetitive drumbeats, and barely identifiable woodwinds. But the focus is always on his line art, which is something like a cross between MC Escher etchings and contemporary graphic design. Sometimes he makes us want to nap, and sometimes his work is like visual caffeine.
