“YouTube creator, videographer, and dad,” Asa Maass and his family have not only shed light on the struggles of raising an autistic child, they’ve become a source of comfort and inspiration for other parents of autistic kids. While their Fathering Autism YouTube channel has been around for six years, it really took off in 2017 with hundreds of posts: insightful (and often emotional) vlogs, helpful tips, and guides for dealing with issues specific to autism. They’re a family like any other—they dance in Target, they teach their teenage son to drive, and they care for their 12-year-old daughter Abbie, who has non-verbal autism. Despite the daily challenges they face, the family fills each episode with love and laughs, warming the hearts of nearly 50K subscribers.
