"The Real" hosts are changing their fans' lives one hashtag at a time. With an Instagram post using #GabBagGiveaway, #RealTripToParadise and #RealEmpowered, viewers have won designer bags, all-inclusive vacations, and one deserving single mom snagged a 2017 Ford Fusion Sport to help her score a job promotion! Our IG experience hinges on giving back to the community, which has helped us become the #2 syndicated talk show in total social actions.

Strategy and Execution

While most shows use Instagram to promote their segments, we use the platform to involve and uplift our audience with a personal touch, and what's more personal than letting a celebrity hack your account? #TheRealSocialTakeover allowed our hosts to personally post on a fan's account, delivering words of inspiration and sharing exclusive content. The zero degrees of separation factor makes fans want to engage with women they see as more than just hosts… they're mentors, friends, and family.

For our #GabBagGiveaway, #RealEmpowered, and #RealTripToParadise campaigns, we employed Instagram as the medium to enter, because the platform allows fans to create personal and creative entries that show up in their friends' news feeds. In addition, our Instagram campaigns have helped us reached our goal of gaining over 150K followers since the end of our second season.

Instagram epitomizes "The Real's" goal of fostering community through giving fans the chance to authentically do life with the hosts and other followers. @TheRealDaytime is all about community. REAL talk. REAL life-changing moments.


Use of our hashtag contests has helped garner a daily average of over 33,000 total engagements per day.
