The objective of the spot was two-fold: First, to create a feeling of pride and unity across Penn State students, alumni, and faculty. And second, to do so in a way that shifted perception from it being a sports school to a top-tier academic institution.
Talking with students and faculty, we uncovered an incredible web of interdisciplinary work responsible for their research prowess and real-world impact.
Medical teams working with botanists. Engineers with artists. A layered network of people, resources, and ideas quite literally solving world problems from the middle of Pennsylvania.
Inspired by "The House That Jack Built" nursery rhyme, our script builds to bring these interdisciplinary layers to life. Layers upon which students can build a future they believe in.
This cinematic anthem film defies university marketing tropes and features real students and faculty in real, honest spaces.
It is unlike anything Penn State has ever made - a poetic way into an otherwise diluted refrain: you can change the world from here.
The spot ran on campus in the stadium, was promoted across Penn State's social channels, and broadcast on the NFL and Big 10 Networks. It received nearly unanimous positive feedback from current students, faculty, alumni, and even prospective students surveyed by the University.
