Our objective was to draw a broader audience, generate awareness, and obtain an impactful presence in the midst of Fall premieres.
Our strategy for the Snapchat lens was to give users an interactive piece of creative and an opportunity to transform themselves into a strigoi (a vampire creature, The Strain's most iconic villain) as a simple, fun and organic way to engage with the show content. Utilizing Snapchat's 3D rendering and audio/visual recognition technology, we replicated the distinct characteristics that transform humans into the strigoi including worms moving underneath the skin, bloodshot eyes, and a lethal stinger that was built to trigger as users were prompted to open their mouth. Taking a note from the show we included sound design to round out the experience and really bring users into character.
This was the first National Lens for FX which exceeded multiple benchmarks and delivered 33MM premiere day impressions.
