Instagrammer @chefjacqueslamerde takes the #foodie movement one step too far, turning low ingredients (Oreos, Cheez-Whiz, and Twinkies, among others) into high cuisine, with beautiful results. The deconstructed dishes, with “tweezered everything,” look exciting to the tastebuds, but this chef’s tongue is planted firmly in-cheek. With “extravagant” dishes like Swedish Fish Ceviche, and deli meats perfectly drizzled with Mountain Dew Black Label “Gastrique,” it is often hard to tell if the food is a joke, or truly daring fusion cuisine. In 2016, the world got an idea when chef Christine Flynn unmasked herself on Top Chef, admitting that her alter-ego just gives her a chance to send-up foodie trends and culture, poking fun at the profession she loves.
