Brothers Hank and John Green (VidCon founder and The Fault In Our Stars author, respectively) funneled their vlogging expertise and passion for education into the YouTube channel Crash Course in 2011 as one of the first channels in YouTube’s $100 million push into user-created content, aimed at making longer-than-average educational videos for classrooms and curious viewers. Fourteen seasons, 3.5 million subscribers, and a PBS partnership later, Crash Course continues to staunchly aim to make learning fun, and this year spun off into additional units on intellectual property, astronomy, and a new series called Crash Course Kids.
