Every year, somewhere between 800k and a million pit bulls are euthanized in American shelters, and this troubling fact prompted photographer Sophie Gamand to use her Instagram following to do some good. She started the Pit Bull Flower Power project, and constructed elaborate flower crowns for adorable, adoptable pit bulls to wear, winning her the Hero of the Year award at Rescue The Runway this year. Her newest book, Wet Dog, pulls 120+ of the best portraits she’s done of dogs at bathtime and was released in October of 2015, and she also appeared on FOX’s All-Star Dog Rescue to encourage pet adoptions from shelters.
