Background: From Shoe Drops to Giving Trips
In the early days, TOMS called their firsthand Shoe Giving experiences "Shoe Drops." TOMS founder Blake, the small TOMS staff and some their family and friends, traveled back to Argentina to distribute the very first One for One shoes to children in need. For the next few years, the TOMS family was an essential part of every pair of shoes given to children in need.
However, as the One for One movement gained support and the company grew, TOMS learned more about international development and built out a Giving Team to work with humanitarian partners - Giving Partners - to more responsibly integrate TOMS Giving into existing programs.
Today TOMS Shoe Giving Trips are an amazing opportunity for TOMS community members to visit with Giving Partners and experience their incredible work firsthand. These visits also allow attendees to meet and spend time with the children receiving TOMS Giving Shoes: With every pair of shoes you purchase, TOMS will give a new pair of shoes to a child in need. One for One®.
TOMS shared the the TOMS Virtual Giving Trip video on
TOMS Youtube channel and Facebook page and encouraged their community members to visit a TOMS Roasting Co. Community Outpost or other retailers to watch the VR video on a Samsung VR headset.
