Ben Lowy was one of the first embedded photojournalists to shoot war images on his iPhone, making a case for filters in professional photography—his iLibya: Uprising by iPhone series covered the Arab Spring using the Hipstamatic app. In 2013, he joined up with pro photography social-media community EyeEm, sharing images with news outlets and other photogs. In 2014, he started releasing his Walkscapes series on Instagram, using a time-lapse app to capture 30–100 frames from his daily walks, overlapping them into one compressed, kaleidoscope-like photo turned to impressionist art. He now uses the Squarespace platform for a site where fans can buy his iPhone prints directly.
