The Voice

Finalist in Television

Objectives

The Voice is built to have the most consequential, entertaining social experience on television. Fans expect nothing less from the show that pioneered Social TV. A few highlights from this year:

THE VOICE SAVE:

The first and most impactful Twitter-based vote on TV. Indeed, measured by volume, it's the most successful Social TV integration of all time.

When the bottom three contestants are announced, the audience choose a contestant to save by tweeting their vote using #VoiceSave. The payoff is immediate, with the tallies announced live on-air. A Twitter exec told USA Today, "The Voice's Instant Save will be the first time Twitter will be used for an actual voting decision during a show."

THE VOICE TAILGATE:

Produced backstage before each live episode, #VoiceTailgate is TV's first social pre-show, with original content, talent, influencers and celebrity guests, and fan engagement all exclusively on social. Partygoers visit a Vine 360 booth, Instagram photo stop, and GIF station, while influencers create more content on the fly.

SOCIAL CONTENT HIGHLIGHTS:

Adam & Blake Swap Twitter Handles during the show and the Internet exploded. Yahoo TV wrote: "Basically the best thing to ever happen to Twitter. Or to 'The Voice.' Or maybe to the Internet. Or ever."

Tumblr Creatrs partnered with The Voice to create GIFs in real-time inspired by performances and integrated into broadcast.

Instagram Tune-In Videos with the Coaches and Mentors telling fans to turn on The Voice before each show.

And every season we work with Coaches and Artists to engage with each other and fans, creating a constellation of content and community.

Strategy and Execution

The results of all these activations add up. According to Nielsen Social:

-- The Voice led all broadcast series by total tweets (13.1M), unique authors (2.1M), impressions (406.1M) in 2014

-- In 2014, The Voice broke the record for the most tweeted TV-series episode since they began measuring social conversation in 2011

-- The Voice took 8 of the Top 10 spots in 2014 when ranking episodes from broadcast networks by total tweets
