Kavin is a science writer and super cool mom contributing to Genetic Literacy Project, Skepchick, and Grounded Parents! She is thankful to live in an era of life-saving medical technologies, on the horizon of the genomic and precision medicine revolution, when biotech holds the promise to feed the world in a sustainable manner. While it’s the sappiest of clichés, she envisions a world with the most advanced technologies for her kids, and a scientifically-savvy public for the grandchildren she hopes to have. Thus, she strives to project her voice as far as it will carry. She loathes unsubstantiated fear-mongering, especially when it exploits scientific ignorance. While not a scientist by the traditional definition, Kavin has a unique perspective afforded by the intersection of a solid working knowledge of genomics and genetics, as well as her identity as a regular mom that truly wants the best not only for her own kids, but for all kids. She helps make science approachable and edgy.
