Objectives

As the first and only retailer to debut video ads on Instagram, Banana Republic created a series of time-lapse sketches to debut the Holiday '14 Collection in an effort to take the community behind-the-scenes, showcase our designs and continue momentum behind #thenewBR.


Strategy and Execution

With the rise of sophisticated mobile devices has come the ability to capture and share unique, inspiring moments with the world. Marketers are evolving the way they approach advertising and the types of messages they share. This series of :15 video ads is a prime example of how we're shifting as an industry, and bringing our customers into experiences they wouldn't otherwise have exposure to through emerging mediums.

The time lapse videos a-la-Hyperlapse were created to give the Instagram community a look inside our walls and a glimpse at the design process, and show them our latest collection in a way that was inspiring, artful and real. Gone are the days of multi million dollar advertising shoots, a small & scrappy team of just a few people created six :15 video ads in one afternoon at the Banana Republic design office. The result: over 1 million views on Instagram, features in AdWeek, NBC, etc.
