How do you engage millions of people on the busiest block in Manhattan during the busiest day of the year? And launch a fragrance for a cultural icon? It has to be as authentic, modern and provocative as the man himself. So we turned Black Friday into Gold Friday and introduced NYC to Jay Z Gold, his first-ever fragrance. For the first time ever, we made it possible to manipulate digitally-rendered liquid on a life-sized scale, and in real time, by gesturing. That means in front of the Jay Z Gold Window, your reflection and live movements were transformed into liquid gold. Even the lighting of the liquid gold, its fluidity, texture and color are all true to its natural state of matter. Painstaking detail responsively rendered moment-to-moment, on the spot. It took 4 PhDs. 600,000 lines of code. A 7-foot, 4K display. And twin ASUS GTX Titan-6GD5s running in SLI with liquid-cooled processors to make the theoretical real. Hundreds-of-thousands of passersby turned themselves into liquid gold avatars through real-time motion capture. They shared their excitement over social media and spent more than 595 hours engaging with an original idea.
