Juneteenth / The Loud House PSA

Objectives

Utilize Nickelodeon's large social media presence to commemorate Juneteenth and teach fans about the holiday in a way that's firmly Nickelodeon, speaking to kids from a beloved character and in a way that they can understand.

Strategy and Execution

As Juneteenth education started to build buzz, Nickelodeon wanted to educate our tween and teen audience on the holiday. The main goal was to make a piece of content that was easy to comprehend yet still convey the importance of this day. Enter Clyde, the brainy and informed character on The Loud House, who delivers the message in an authentic manner.

This PSA lived across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter through the main Nickelodeon, Nick Animation, and Loud House social accounts, as well as on linear all throughout the day.

Results

We saw an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the PSA—even behind the scenes.

Our voice actor, Andre, messaged the Nickelodeon production crew at the end of his recording session to let them know he was very grateful that we were making our Juneteenth spots and that he was inspired by it. He said "I know it's hard with all the news and things with George Floyd to talk about this stuff but I'm really glad you're doing it."

Throughout social media we saw the same sentiment

·         i absolutely ADORE what nickelodeon has been doing lately. from going off the air for george floyd, airing their pride month segment, and now they talk about juneteenth with original animation?? its exactly what these channels should be doing in times like these - @WillowAlchemist 

·         I love everything about this. Not only does it talk to kids about how important this day is, but it also has original animation to go with it. I hope Nick does more of this in the future! - @AilonHQ

In all, the PSA received 800K impressions and 100K views across Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter.
