The Coronavirus Facts series brings important health and safety information to viewers in a visually dynamic way. Since Covid-19 is a novel virus, that means much of the information that we have gotten since the beginning of the pandemic is new, and often confusing. We strived to meet the moment with this video series, breaking down the most prevalent public health questions at the time into easily digestible videos. By highlighting and explaining certain facts about the Coronavirus, the series gave viewers thoroughly researched guidance while also dispelling rampant misinformation. This social-first series, published on Facebook in English and Spanish, consisted of five episodes, tackling some of the most pressing issues around Covid-19, such as face coverings, cures, and how it can affect a person’s cardiovascular system.
AARP Studios rigorously vetted the information to make sure we were creating up to date, fact-driven content that was broken down in a way that was easy for our audience to understand, while also dispelling dangerous misinformation. The series was designed to be eye catching, and also easily viewable on all social media platforms for optimum audience reach. Additionally, this series was published in both English and Spanish to reach a wider audience (the audience for the Spanish versions being an especially critical demographic to reach with these messages as they have been disproportionality affected by the virus).
These videos garnered over 2.6 million views in English and Spanish. These videos were additionally pulled into the Facebook Coronavirus Information Center Featured as an example of trustworthy media that keeps people informed during the Coronavirus pandemic.
