In today’s contentious news environment, it’s easy to overlook those average people who quietly make big, positive impacts on society. “Champions for Change” spotlighted the unforgettable change makers, told their stories and inspired others to do good.
We asked twelve CNN anchors to each identify one person they’ve covered in the course of their careers who they just couldn’t forget. The anchors tracked these unsung heroes down, reconnected and expanded their stories. We posted the segments onto a landing page along with video essays by the anchors about the importance of challenging the status-quo and striving for positive change.
The “Champions for Change” pieces yielded surprising, poignant and even life-saving results. Each story promoted heroic traits like grit, creativity and compassion that motivated our audience to do their own great things. One example: Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s report about a suicide survivor empowered two women to stop a man from taking his own life.
