The National FFA Organization and Discovery Education have joined forces to create a robust, comprehensive career resource to help high school students nation-wide explore the broad range of careers within the industry of agriculture. Agriculture has a variety and abundance of careers that fit within nine exciting career focus areas. Careers may have you using advanced equipment, creating new hybrid seeds, raising animals, managing people or designing new products and packaging.
An ongoing series of virtual field trips aims to transport students beyond classroom walls into leading agricultural organizations, helping them gain a first-hand account of the diverse career opportunities within the industry.
In September 2018, Discovery Education and National FFA partnered with Tractor Supply Company to host a virtual field trip entitled ‘Beyond the Sale: Careers That Deliver’. During this immersive experience, students were transported beyond the walls of their schools to learn how product development, marketing, distribution and merchandising plays a role in delivering wholesale products every day.
This virtual field trip opened up access to students’ understanding about the role of business firms in agriculture, and the breadth of career paths available to them.
For each Virtual Field Trip, AgExplorer created a customized outreach plan with the purpose of showcasing diverse careers while also driving awareness and engagement with the featured company and National FFA Organization.
Tactics used were custom press releases, targeted educator communications, social media campaigns, and others. To date, AgExplorer has garnered more than 7MM pageviews and reached 6MM + students.
