Politics 101 is an animated video series on the political system in the Untied States, with a focus on the 2016 Presidential Election. It covers a range of current political topics, including voter turnout, changing demographics, election trends, money in politics, and evolutions in the voting system. The series is released in both the English language (Fusion) and Spanish language (Univision).
The goal of this series is to make political topics, which are often presented in a way that is unapproachable to many readers, digestible and sharable to an entire range of millennial readers.
To take complex political ideas and transform them into accessible and interesting narratives. For example, we looked at polling data for Clinton vs. Trump and created a narrative asking, who is hated more by the American people and what that says about the current election. Using playful animation, concise text and snappy old time music, we've created a set of videos that are both easy to watch and educational. The videos are published in both English and Spanish, so as to reach a wider audience.
The Politics 101 digital series has exceeded our expectations and goals. The videos are providing both our English and Spanish language audiences insight into the political process in this pivotal election year, garnering tremendous engagement and viewership with the two episodes released to date receiving over 1M views. Note that three more episodes in the series are slated to release this year.
Additionally, we received incredible pick-up from a number of organizations and influencers to amplify the message of our series, including shares from Act.tv and Tim Black.
