The Wild ‘N Out fanbase is very different from the typical MTV/VH1 fans. This group of followers has been around for quite some time and these fans are way more present on digital/social than they are on linear. The fanbase on WNO social is larger than most owned properties under the MTV Entertainment Group. These fans can be incredibly vocal, making their comments and engagements a driving force in how we operate our channels. Whenever choosing content to go out on our platforms, we’re constantly using our expert knowledge of the platform and our fans to drive the creative.
As mentioned previously, we are constantly focusing on platform and fan-driven content. For this video, we focused heavily on our knowledge of the fanbase. Kevin Hart has made an appearance on Wild ‘N Out a couple of times throughout our 20 seasons on air, and with his appearance have come some incredibly viral moments. When we found out that he would be returning, we knew we had to keep our eyes peeled for more standout moments. Maddy Smith has been on WNO for the past few seasons but is still relatively new compared to other cast members. Fans recently have been gravitating towards her work. When we saw this specific moment unfold in the episode, we knew we had struck gold. Immediately after the episode aired, we cut this clip, formatted it into our classic meme style, and got it up online. We wanted to make sure we were hitting the fans while this moment was still being discussed online.
This clip took off like wildfire, just as we had hoped it would. An average WNO TikTok receives anywhere from 800k-3M views. This clip received 24.7M views, 2.9M likes, 6k+ comments, 228k saves, and nearly 14k shares. The video moment itself was amazing and having Kevin Hart included was the cherry on top of the perfect recipe.
