RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Meet the Queens

Entered in Short Form Video

Objectives

With each new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race comes a whole new cast of queens for the audience to fall in love with. The diversity represented on Drag Race gives fans a chance to relate to someone in a way they never have, root for them to snatch the crown, and learn from the life experiences they share on the show. On the digital front, we take the lead when it comes to introducing these queens before the season. When the cast is first announced, we premiere a livestream on the Drag Race YouTube channel featuring  interviews with each queen called Meet The Queens. These videos have become a fixture in the fandom, helping fans get a sense of who each contestant is before they walk through the Werk Room door.

Strategy and Execution

While the long form version of the Meet The Queen interviews live on our YouTube channel, this content is repurposed for short form platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. We take the most snackable soundbites and publish them for fans to share and engage with.

This content encourages deep fan engagement, including many people using the audios to create original videos on TikTok. During the rollout for Season 15, we even had an audio by Mistress Isabelle Brooks be used by internet legend Trisha Paytas!

Results

Fans look for the Meet The Queens content year after year, and are constantly referencing quotes from them. These short form, snackable videos help the audience to form a deeper connection with the talent and really showcase their personalities before hitting the main stage.
