Objectives

Fantasy Bid is vehicle to engage Barrett-Jackson's biggest fans and car enthusiasts across the globe, bringing them closer to the live event auctions in a truly unique way, no matter their location.

It empowers car aficionados to play along at home by making their own bid predictions for a chance to win big prizes, while also enabling Barrett-Jackson to expand its consumer data and offering a fantastic sponsor platform for their automotive partner, Dodge.

Even better, it does all this in a very mutually beneficial way for both the brands and consumers alike.

Strategy and Execution

The Barrett-Jackson Auction Company partnered with Telescope to power it’s Barrett-Jackson Fantasy Bid Experience 2023 presented by Dodge. The experience offered automotive enthusiasts an opportunity to test their skills at predicting the winning bids on a special selection of vehicles featured on the Barrett-Jackson auction block. The year-long game covered 4 different auctions and lead up to an ultimate champion, awarded to the participant who amassed the most points by consistently making predictions that were closest to the final sale prices of specific vehicles across all four Barrett-Jackson auctions.

Participants were challenged to test their automotive and auction knowledge as they competed against other enthusiasts. Players made bidding predictions on 12 pre-selected auction cars to earn points, with the most accurate bids earning the most points. As predictions were made in the weeks leading up to 4 events, users were encouraged to follow along live to see how their predictions fared. As the auctions happened live, users could log in and see if they earned points and check their position on the leaderboard, keeping them engaged and coming back to see the standings. The overall winner who accumulated the most points by accurately guessing vehicle selling prices at each auction drove away with a new 2023 Dodge Charger.

Results

The results were clear: for Barrett-Jackson the campaign generated a significant increase in new users and data capture around their biggest supporters, while also giving Dodge access to a sponsor platform with data for highly engaged car enthusiasts. Time on the site greatly exceeded industry standards and there was over a 90% question completion rate for all the 4 events, meaning users were engaged throughout the entire experience.
