WeAreTeachers + Lysol Clear the List Giveaway

Objectives

It’s no secret that many teachers pay out of pocket for their classroom essentials, especially during the back-to-school season. Educators often resort to setting up online wish lists that include classroom books and supplies to ask for donations. We partnered up with Lysol to clear the Amazon wish lists of 100 teachers during the 2022 back-to-school season! During each month in July through October, 25 teachers were chosen to receive a $200 Amazon gift card to clear their classroom wish lists and help make their school year great! We leveraged social advertising, display advertising, email, and video to spread the word about our giveaway! Teachers came back with an outstanding response, and we could feel their excitement. The unfortunate circumstance of teachers not receiving the supplies they need must be solved. Our giveaway sought out to fill a tiny portion of that gap and reward teachers, some of the most deserving people out there!

Strategy and Execution

The Clear the List giveaway launched in July and awarded 25 winners in each month during July through October 2022. A landing page on WeAreTeachers.com was our hub for contest information, rules, and a form to enter to win. We drove traffic to this landing page through a robust promotion plan including social, display ads, email, enewsletters, and more.

 

Teachers were already familiar with “clear the list” as posting their own wish lists and asking family and friends to donate to their classroom. In this giveaway, we flipped the narrative, and made the Clear the List giveaway a place where teachers submitted their classroom wish lists for a chance to have it cleared. No asking family and friends necessary!

 

We sought out to put WeAreTeachers and Lysol in the forefront of teachers’ minds during the back-to-school season and give educators an opportunity to upgrade their classrooms. We utilized our loyal organic and paid social audiences who were already familiar with the Clear the List messaging. #Clearthelist is most popular among teachers on Instagram. Therefore, we tapped into our Instagram following utilizing Instagram Reels and feed posts to inform teachers about this giveaway and prompt them to enter using our link in bio, which proved to be one of the most successful strategies of the campaign.
