Our favorite feline hero returned to theaters with his trademark bravado, swagger, and comedy. Our objective with the campaign was to globally bring Puss in Boots into the real world in a modern and edgy way that acknowledges the rise of the Internet and cat culture since Puss last graced the silver screen.
Our strategy was to take this HIGHLY recognizable character, and align him with digital trends that exist outside of the film. We felt Antonio Banderas’ (as Puss in Boots) soothing voice would match well with this still-relevant digital trend, along with fan-favorite new character Perrito, voiced by Harvey Guillen.
Working directly with DreamWorks Animation, Universal Pictures created a :40 second custom-animated video that was globally translated and subtitled across 6 territories, with fans exclaiming, “BRO HIS VOICE IS SO RELAXING” and “This is the first ASMR that I genuinely love.”
