Formula 1 racing driver superstar Lando Norris, a human defined by achieving faster speeds than competitors, seeks the fastest speed online with Google Chrome. In our social content series, viewers watch Lando use Chrome to race his own pit crew, the fastest in all of F1, at different tasks. Lando uses Chrome to autofill his password, convert miles to kilometers and purchase his fellow teammate’s poster in 3-second competitions versus his crew’s pit stops. Can Lando and Chrome beat the crew’s changing of tires, jacking-up the racecar and filling up gas at pit stops? Watch to find out.
Due to Lando’s limited availability, we only had a short time to both film him and create this content leading up to the 2022 Austin Formula 1 race at The Circuit of The Americas where his McLaren Team would be competing in a racecar sponsored by Google Chrome. Also, our goal was to feature Chrome task completions that could beat the record pit stop time McLaren’s pit crew had held before we made the content which was around a mere 3 seconds.
We believe this content series was a unique, unexpected way to show Chrome product features that entertained F1 fans who are known to be tech savvy and into speed. It resulted in over 127,635 impressions and was considered a high performer in the content Google shared on Twitter in 2022.
