Objectives

The YouTube TV Tips & Tricks series aims to inform and delight existing users on how to maximize their YouTube TV viewing experience. These :15 video ads demonstrate artful 3D composites that illustrate power features from within the live TV streaming service, inviting user engagement in a friendly and approachable way, providing concise context and sequenced instructions for users to jump right in.

Strategy and Execution

Being allotted :15 ad spaces on the streaming platform, we sought to create a quieter informative ad experience to contrast the frenetic tempo of programming and traditional advertisements. Inspired by video game loading screens, we modeled abstracted visuals that reinforce adjoining contextual and instructional messaging.

Results

It turns out viewers enjoy ads that come across as artful and informative, particularly when they’re not being sold something in-between show breaks, but instead being educated on how to maximize the service they’re already subscribed to. What started as an experiment to reinforce top line features, has graduated to an effective method of conveying deep seated product features in highly focalized, yet bite-sized ads.
